1954 Academy Awards
I asked my group of readers to tell me more about the 1954 Academy Awards because it seems to be building some interest on the Internet. I received an amazing response today from Simon Anderson. Here is the information that Simon submitted.
In 1954, at the 26th annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles, “From Here to Eternity” won best picture of 1953; also winning Oscars were “Eternity” director Fred Zinnemann, best supporting actor Frank Sinatra, and best supporting actress Donna Reed. William Holden was named best actor for “Stalag 17″ and Audrey Hepburn was named best actress for “Roman Holiday.”
The song “Secret Love,” from the Doris Day-Howard Keel film “Calamity Jane,” was the Oscar winner for best song of the year. Garry, if folks want to learn more about the 1954 Academy Awards, I found a pretty decent page about that. But, be warned to turn your pop up blocker on.
All the best,
Simon
