The fear of flying. Are people still afraid to fly in an airplane? Are there still people in the United States who have never flown in an airplane?

Are you scared to fly in an airplane? Have you flown in an airplane before and had a bad experience? Perhaps, you have still never flown before and the simple fact that  you don’t know what to expect scares you. Many years ago, it was common to hear that people were afraid to fly in a plane. However; today, it is still funny to hear people say thing every once in awhile.

Did you know that it is actually more dangerous to drive in a car to the airport than it is to actually take off in the air riding in an airplane? It’s true… Airplanes get bad publicity. You don’t hear about many auto accidents making national news. Yet, when one airplane crashes, such as this Cessna 310 that crashed, it not only makes national news but becomes on of the most popular searches on the Internet. Why is that?

Why do airplanes get such bad publicity. This has been going on for years. Most people would like to believe that because of the events that took place on 9/11 is the main cause for the coverage aviation and aircraft get on the news. But really, if you look back on things… airplane crashes have made national headlines for years. Granted I can understand certain crashes that involve many people, but even smaller single engine aircraft such as Cessna 172’s and multi engine aircraft such as Cessna 310’s make national news. Let’s face it… to many, airplanes are always going to be scary. And if you think about it and look at an airplane, especially the big ones, such as the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and the Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet, they can appear to be very intimidating and scary.
