Facebook Tips and Tricks
Facebook is becoming one of the largest social networking sites on the Internet. In many ways, Facebook is becoming its own separate galactic Intranet residing within the corner of the Internet universe just like the Milky Galaxy within the solar system.
What is Facebook? For those who don’t know, “People use Facebook to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet.” -FaceBook.com To many, Facebook is similar to MySpace but harbors a more sophisticated and professional environment. At FaceBook, you get less smut and spam and more tools and resources towards finding friends and sharing things among them.
How do you find tips and why would you need them? When I first starting using FaceBook, I have to admit that I was a little overwhelmed at first. I had people poking me and asking me to join things that caused me to have to add expansions to my account, etc. Navigating within my account for the first time seemed a little clunky and cumbersome. I am not a noob to the Internet, but I was clearly inexperienced with using FaceBook and needed help.
Still to this day, I am not an avid or regular user of FaceBook but from time to time I do log in and check my account and take a look around to see what my friends have been up to. To learn more about FaceBook I found a few sites that really helped get me on my way.
FaceBook SiteTour: The site tour really wasn’t extremely helpful but it did give me a general scope of what FaceBook is and what I can expect from it. I would suggest reading the SiteTour and them move on to the next link.
FaceBookTalk.com: FaceBook Talk is one of the very first FaceBook fan sites online. It started back in 2004 when the author discovered FaceBook and felt compelled to launch a blog that provided users with basic to advanced level of tips and tricks. There are many categories on this blog, but the one I would suggest paying some attention to would be the FaceBook Tips & Tricks Category.
FaceBookMania: This is a FaceBook user message board and forum. On this forum you can quickly find FaceBook friends, get support and have users within the community with higher levels of experience provide you with support. The message board features many categories such as the General FaceBook Discussion Forum.
FaceBookASCII: This site provides some excellent high quality FaceBook Tutorials that will walk you through the the basics of using FaceBook. Of all the places I visited, I liked the FaceBookASCII tutorials the best. There are 12 high quality and well written tutorials available. Some additional tutorials are found in the blog such as this FaceBook video tutorial.
MattHuggins.com: This is a personal blog of Matt Huggins who is an inspiring Internet entrepreneur who recently got into creating FaceBook applications. I would recommend catching some great FaceBook advice in his FaceBook Blog Category.
Ultimately, FaceBook can be a very fun environment to meet friends and share things among them, but getting started can be somewhat difficult. These sites will all help you learn the ropes and gain a better understanding of FaceBook and what you can do within this leading social network.
