How To Become A Bay Area Traffic Reporter?
William Becker submitted in a question today stating that he has an interest in learning how to become a bay area traffic reporter. It took some time to find someone to respond back but here is both the question and answer.
I’m interested in becoming a bay area traffic reporter? I know of one provider, Shadow Traffic, but are there any others in the Bay Area? Does anyone know where I can send my demo tape? Any information would be helpful.
Janet White was helpful enough to respond to Williams question and has provided the following information.
Shadow Traffic and Metro Traffic used to be the Big Two providers of traffic services to Northern California radio/TV…until they merged recently. I don’t know what name they’re operating under in the Bay Area, but it’s all the same company these days. There have been startups here and there, but I don’t know if they’re still in operation. Traffic.com, I think? Shadow/Metro is “the biggie”. I believe Joe McConnell (aka Joe Vincent on KGO) is operations manager of Metro’s Bay Area operation. That slot at Shadow in the Bay Area used to be occupied by a former co-worker of mine…
