Airline tickets are expensive. Everyone else gets a good deal. Where can I find cheap airline tickets?

First off, my rule of thumb is if you travel anywhere within an 8 to 10 hour drive, flying is just not worth the effort. When I lived in the suburbs of Chicago, I would travel to Nashville TN quite frequently. Driving from Joliet IL. to Clarksville TN. is only an 8 hour drive, including gas stop and a few 10 minute rest stop breaks. To be honest, I have made the trip in 6.5 hours.

Flying from Chicago Midway area to Nashville BNA doesn’t save me a lot of time. It takes me about an hour to get the Chicago Midway. I would fly Southwest Airlines and they recommend arriving two hours early. The flight is about an hour. Arriving in Nashville, getting off the plane and finding my luggage takes almost an hour and driving from Nashville to Clarksville TN can take close to an hour.

So you can see how there isn’t too much time being saved compared to driving. I only fly if I can’t get their by car within 10 hours.

As far as getting cheap airline tickets are concerned, I like Southwest Airlines and have installed Ding on my computer.
