If You Advertise It People Will Buy It
Written by Garry Conn on February 9th, 2008This is no joke, if you advertise it people will buy it. For the past few months on this site I have focused on Google Adsense and targeting search traffic. While that was and still is successful for me, I never really realized up until a few days ago after redesigning the blog that if you advertise stuff, people will buy it.
Granted seeing these results might not be as obvious on blogs with low amounts of traffic, but if you look at percentages over the long term of say, a few weeks or a few months, rather than look at daily numbers, you’ll see quite a few sales kick in.
Depending on what products or services you promote will reflect on how much money you make. See, in the past, I have never really had trouble with promoting affiliate based products. I have always been successful with that; however, I chose not to for the simple fact that I could make more money with pay per click programs like Google Adsense.
If there was only a product or service that paid good money… that would make a huge difference. However, finding a product or service that I could sell that would make me more money than what I was already making with Google Adsense was the trick. It didn’t exist, therefore I stuck with Adsense.
I have toyed around with Amazon Associates, Commission Junction and many other programs. As they have been successful for me, they never made as much money as Adsense. As you may know, recently I joined a new program called, PepperJam.
After joining PepperJam, it kind of caused me to do a very quick and aggressive 180. I redesigned one of my top performing Adsense blogs almost over night, adding a new line of fresh content and haven’t looked back since.
While so far within this week, I haven’t exceeded the monthly Adsense income this blog typically made in the past, I can say this… its getting close, very close. PepperJam has programs that pay extremely high commission rates. Secondly they also have many advertisers that pay super high lead gen rates.
For me, lead gen programs are my favorite and I’ll tell you why. Led gens are almost like Adsense. The same strategy is involved. I don’t focus on trying to make the sale or close the deal. Google Adsense is a no pressure program. Meaning, if you blog about your kitchen sink, the program will generate ads related to kitchen sinks. When people visit your page, they will click.
Lead gen is almost the same thing. Only difference is you set out to blog about the product that you’re trying to generate the lead. Still this is a no pressure program, as you’re not trying to sell the product. The only think you want out of lead gen is to influence a reader or site visitor to click the ad. From there, your job is done… the responsibility of closing the deal and capturing the sale falls under the responsibility of your advertiser.
In lead gen programs, If the advertiser sucks and can’t close the deal on 100% pure leads I send them, then I fire them. It’s that simple. My traffic is worth gold and if they can’t convert the leads I send them, I off them. Pure and simple.
The reason why I like PepperJam is just for this reason. They appreciate and value the traffic I send them. Their advertisers appreciate and value the traffic I send them. They focus on conversion. They focus on closing the deal and capturing the sale and that might be why they pay high lead gen percentages. That might also be why they pay high commissions.
For whatever the reason may be… I don’t care. As an Internet marketer, it’s none of my business. All I am concerned with is that they make great use of the traffic I send them and I get paid very well for it. Period, end of story.
So, if you advertise it… as I said, people will buy it. However, you have to join programs that are designed to have your best interests in mind. If you advertise it and people click on it and DON’T buy it… in my eyes, that’s a freaking problem and that is something that needs to be dealt with and quickly.
If you want to make money online, join PepperJam. End of story.
