Internet Explorer 7 RC1 Easily Allows For Multiple Home Pages

Immediately I must state, that I am NOT saying that this can not be done in Firefox. However, I am saying, if it is possible… I couldn't figure it out, nor find any instructions on how to do this.

Still having Firefox 1.5 installed on my computer (will be uninstalling soon) I noticed that under Home page it says: Location(s). This leads me to believe that you can configure the browser to open more than one home page using Tabs. Reason why I think it is possible is because I am already doing it using Internet Explorer 7 RC1…
:)
I am also saying that I was UNABLE to figure out how to do it in Firefox.

Give you three guesses which Internet Browser I am using: First two don't count! LOL! I have to admit… openly too… Internet Explorer is much better than Firefox… Vex will point out some of the more complicated attributes… however, for me… I notice many more quality features in IE and also added ease of use… I have used Internet Explorer for a long time, and I just feel into a trap that thousands have fallen into… Ignorance. It's that simple.

I am glad to be back using Internet Explorer… things actually feel like they used to back before this whole Firefox thing started… I feel better and at ease!

Take care… and I hope people atleast DOWNLOAD MSIE 7 RC1 and try it…

This is something that has been available in Opera for quite awhile - all it is is saving a group of tabs instead of a single site as a homepage.

If you think of it as tabs instead of a homepage, you might find FF will do it, too.

When the browser has more than one tab open… you get something different… view screen shot below and compare to the first in the post:

So.. yes, I figured it out… but IE was easier.

  4. Vexation Says:

Its really no simpler than it was in Opera.

But both Opera & MSIE come fully featured, out of the box. That halfbreed, all-junk Firefox needs addons to get it to work right - and God help you if those extensions conflict with each other.

  5. Garry Conn Says:

So, is it worth even downloading Opera… Any reason why I should use it?

  6. Vexation Says:

None really now - other than as a real substitute for IE.

Even so, the latest version of Opera is also causing some system problems. It seems that the reworks that both Opera & Firefox have had to suddenly orchestrate are causing a whole lot of problems for them - especially for the FF gang. For FF, it isn’t just the developers that have to get things going, it is all of the writers of the extensions, many of which were substandard before and worse with the newer version.

Now that MS has regained its focus on the browser, coupled with the fact FF has no gameplan for dealing with Vista, the tables will again turn. IE7 is so good that the limitations of FF are becoming very clear. The problems from Open Source are also showing themselves.

If we were to listen to the short-sighted FF people, no one would be buying MS Office (yet it sells every year) and everyone would be downloading OpenOffice. The reality is that, while OpenOffice isn’t bad for free software, it isn’t that good, it isn’t that compatible and it isn’t that capable.

There are many other interesting corrolaries, too - if people were so afraid of proprietary, non-open-source things, why are iTunes & the iPod so popular, even on Linux & MS machines?

Why is it I can do more with Eudora and Outlook than I could ever do with Thunderjunk?

Why is it Linux has become a desktop force only for those who can’t afford better?

Actually, I wasn’t intending on making this topic another soapbox to slam FF - I was only pointing out that the feature you found is not an MS original. I also happen to hold good memories about Opera - although with recent developments, it may only be memories and not present feelings.
