Nintendo Wii Price and Launch Date Revealed

I apologize for my sporadic posts, but I'm still trying to get into my new schedule and plan on getting at least 1-2 posts a week for BTI.

Anyway, last night was pretty exciting for a lot of people including myself.  Finally, there is concrete news on Nintendo's Wii. No more rumors, these are the facts.  The Wii will launch on November 19 for the price of $250.  Now I was a little disappointed by this, I was hoping for $200 but if people are willing to pay $400 for the Xbox 360 or $600 for the Playstation 3, $250 really isn't much and you're getting some things bundled with the system that makes it worth it. The Wii will come with one Wii remote, one nunchuck attachment, AC Adapter, AV cables, sensor bar, sensor bard stand, 2 batteries, and the game Wii Sports.  I was pretty excited about Wii Sports and was planning on buying it either way, but it's always nice when they release a game with the system.  Wii Sports features tennis, baseball, golf, bowling, and boxing games.

Also there is more information on the Virtual Console.  The Virtual Console will have about 30 titles in its collection when the Wii launches this November.  Prices will be from $5-$10 which isn't that bad considering some of those games can fetch a hefty fee on eBay.

There will be about 25 games besides the Virtual Console that are expected be released this year which is a welcome relief to have choice this soon in the consoles life.  I still remember the Nintendo 64 launch with Pilot Wings and Mario.

Either way, this Christmas season should be interesting with the Xbox 360 out, the Wii coming out soon as well as the Playstation 3.

    Hey Ryan,

Good to hear from you. Excellent post and no need to apologize. Your post whether it comes once a year, month, week, or day, is still a contribution to the site. So thank you for the post.

I would say if it was $200.00 that would be very cool, but totally agree with you also by being happy with the $250.00. PS3 is a dream for me, however… the Nintendo, that is within range. Honestly, I think I will give it a try and will purchase one.

I wonder if how the whole experience will be with supply and demand? Will it be a nightmare such as with the Xbox 360? Or do you think that Nintendo will be able to keep the shelves stocked?

I was going to post a follow up to your post giving viewers some good screenshots, pictures, and specs… but I figured I would give you the opportunity to do so. Might be a post you would enjoy doing…

Things should be pretty interesting… though, I do think unless Xbox 360 price doesn’t drop a little bit their sales might suffer. Just about everyone who wants one… has it. I think Sony and Nintendo will actually reap the best results during the upcoming holidays.
