Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has officially pushed back the launch of their new Playstation 3 video game console from November 17, 2006 to sometime in March 2007.  The delay is said to be because of lack of supply on the blue laser diode.  The launch is still on for November 11, 2006 in Japan and November 17, 2006 for North America.

This isn't good news for Sony.  Microsoft has had the Xbox 360 out for sometime now and the Nintendo Wii rapidly approaching, Sony can't afford to get into the next generation race later than they already will.  I don't think the Playstation 3 will be as successful as the Playstation or Playstation 2, in fact I think that would be impossible for Sony to emulate its successes again.  Not because it's impossible (they proved that you could win a console war in consecutive generations), but because they're doing everything wrong.  First they release it late, and charge a lot of money for it (compared to other systems like the Xbox 360 and Wii).  I do can't wait to see this console war play out, and I hope that some of the companies don't forget what they do and release good games and not just more features for the system.  What are your guys thoughts on the PS3 and the next generation console war?
