Dell Computers at Wal-Mart - I never really realized this, but Wal-Mart sells Dell computers. From what I can tell, the Dell computers being sold at Wal-Mart have a pretty decent price. By appearance, they are quite a bit cheaper than the Dell computers being offered direct at Dell.com. Perhaps these are older model computers being offered at Wal-Mart? I am not in favor in believing that they are entirely ancient. They may be last year's model. If that is the case, I still think the deals at Wal-Mart are good as the technology hasn't changed hardly at all in computers from the last year. Check out see Wal-Mart's selection of Dell Computers. Dell Beep Codes - Are you looking for a list of Dell beep codes? Take a look at this complete listing of Dell beep codes. An introduction to BIOS beep codes When you power on your computer, the motherboard's basic input/output system (BIOS) first detects the computer's internal hardware configuration and then performs the power-on self-test (POST). The POST executes several diagnostic tests that check the basic functionality of the power supply, motherboard, CPU, I/O Bus Controller, RAM, keyboard, and video components. If the computer passes the POST, it will usually return a single short beep or two short beeps, depending on the BIOS manufacturer. If the POST detects any problems, it will halt the boot process and return an error message either visually on the screen and/or audibly through a series of beeps. Unfortunately, there is no official standard ... Continue reading »

Best Deal Ever on Gateway Computers - My husband found 2 Gateway computer towers, complete with memory cards and lots of other things. My uncle’s neighbors had a garage sale over the weekend, and apparently decided to just throw out all the stuff they couldn’t sell. They threw out a Gateway 2000 computer tower and a Gateway 400c computer tower. Now, my husband isn’t one to go out dumpster diving, but he couldn’t just leave them behind. He grabbed them and brought them home to see if they were any good or not. One had a big sticker on the side that read, "All Parts Work Great". But he wanted to see for himself. He hooked one of our extra monitors to the computers and they both worked with no problem. One contained ... Continue reading »

Deals on Refurbished Laptop Computers - One thing I’ve wanted for some time now, is my own laptop computer. I’m probably the last person in the free world that doesn’t have a laptop computer, but I just can’t bring myself to spend that kind of money. What I’d like to find is a good deal on a refurbished laptop computer. I’ve heard that refurbished laptops work just as well as a new one, but I really don’t know. Plus, I’m not sure I want to own something that has belonged to someone else before. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a junk shop junkie and I love second hand stores, but I don’t know that I want a second hand laptop computer. I guess I’ll need to do a bit more research on the ... What Kind of Computer Is Right For Me? - Shopping for a computer can be very stressful. If you're trying to find a computer for your family and having a difficult time choosing a system, this short and sweet article will give you a little push in the right direction. I am not going to make recommendations; however, I will guide up down a path that will allow you the ability to make a sound decision. Don't shop at the store. Do your research online and at the privacy of your own home. If this is your first computer purchase and you obviously don't have Internet access, go to your public library. ... Continue reading »

Computer Closeout Deals - If you are like me, you don't really focus on having the latest and greatest computer with all the newest and most expensive technology inside. You just need something nice and want a good deal. What I do is look for computer closeout sales and find the best deals on computers that are on clearance to make room for newer models. In my opinion, every computer is going to eventually become outdated. In fact, you can spend thousands of dollars on a brand new system and the minute you walk out of the store with it, the computer becomes outdated. I like to save money and purchase computers that are just one step behind being the new releases. Continue reading »
