Security Glitch In Mozilla Firefox Password Manager Software

Yesterday a glitch was discovered in the Firefox Web Browser password management software. The Firefox browser is created by Mozilla Corp. and is widely advertised as the most secure Internet Browser, beating Internet Explorer hands down. However, hands down, this particular glitch could be the most dangerous Internet browser related glitch yet. Firefox developers rate this bug critical. The problem with the Firefox Password Management Software is that the program could be tricked into sending password information to an attacker’s web site. In order for the attack to work, the attacker creates common HTML forms on their page. Forms are something commonly found on blog sites and other networking sites such as Myspace.com. Internet Explorer is less likely to be tricked because it does a more thorough job in checking to see where the log-in form is coming from before it automatically submits password and user information volunteered out by a user.

For years, Firefox has been heavily advertised as the “Great Alternative” to Internet Explorer, and a safer one, to boot! The promotion of Firefox is so important to Mozilla, that people are paid $1.00 per download as a commission towards the distribution of the Web browser through Google’s Adsense program. Below is a video that is an excellent demonstration to how Mozilla can be very misleading to many ignorant people:
