Switching Back To Yahoo Publisher Network

Written by Garry Conn on November 12th, 2006

For months I have been torn apart from trying making a choice between using Google Adsense or Yahoo Publisher Network. For the last three month (or close to it) I have been Using Yahoo Publisher Network and it has been very profitable (in my eyes). With a recent burst in traffic starting two weeks ago, I decided to give Google Adsense another shot. I ran with it for about a week, and it didn’t produce very good results.

A few hours ago, I again, decided to go back with Yahoo Publisher Network and display their ads strictly on the home page. I have Adsense ads set up to display on post pages. Never at anytime do both ads display at the same time on the same page. I have to say, within the few hours I have had the ads up running on the site, I have already made more than I did all week running Google Adsense. What’s the secret? Adsense has so many more tools for creating ads… so many more ‘relevant’ ads displayed on the site… why is YPN working better? It’s really a mystery to me… but what does matter, my YPN account is totally funding BTI and my cable bill.

I do wish that Yahoo would release an update and give me more options with creating the ads for the site. I would like to display images as well as text. Currently YPN doesn’t allow you to limit ads to display on your site as images only, or text only. Not only that, but Google provides video ads, YPN isn’t close to being that advanced. All in all though, YPN does pay better.

I write a lot about Google Adsense and Yahoo Publisher, I invite you to comment on this article as well as view previously published articles listed below.

Does Yahoo ever display public service messages? Maybe Google has better click fraud measures?

It’s interesting that you have seen that. I may have to test Yahoo on some of my sites. I have hesitated to do so, because I am happy with Google, but if I could make more money with Yahoo it’s definitely worth testing out.

    Great info…

From what I can see, no… but what YPN does do, is display non-relevant ads instead. I totally support YPN, I think it is a great program to have and it is totally a contender with Adsense.

Now, I don’t spend any time over at YPN reviewing their press releases and such. So, I have no idea what their intentions are, but I really do wish that they would (or continue to) focus on giving publishers more options when creating ads for their sites.

I am honestly trying to figure out more closely what and where the YPN code looks for on my pages to generate the ads. Adsense has these special codes you can add into your pages that basically tell the program which type of ads to be displayed.
