Top Five Tips For Getting Listed Into DMOZ
- by Garry Conn

People may think that being listed in the open directory project, dmoz, has little importance in this day in age. I still beg to differ. I think it is very important to still try to get your site listed. Many people still use the directory to find information and different sites. There are many situations where your site would have pulled up if it was only listed in the directory. Maybe we have comfort believing that the directory is nothing more than a links page ghost town. Feeling secure with that, do you feel better about not making an effort to have your site listed? I did for the longest time… but totally realize that it is very important to have your site listed in DMOZ. With all that said, I want to encourage you to do the same. Plan ahead and just set aside one hour to do this. If you do this right, the chances are pretty good that your site will get listed. Granted… there is nothing you can do about the wait time, but wouldn’t it feel better knowing that you submitted a “Good” application. It might make the wait time a little easier to bare… instead of winging it, and crossing fingers and hoping for the best (banking on a poorly written application).
