What Is The Firefox Web Browser

If you are some what new to the Internet you may have discovered a little bit if information about the Firefox web browser. As you may have recently discovered there is more than one Internet web browser available for you to surf the Internet. First starting out, many people aren’t aware of this because they are inexperienced with the Internet and basically how computers work. Through word of mouth, and possibly running into some sites that claim their site is best viewed using Firfox.

So the question still remains, “What is the Firefox web browser?.

Firefox is an open source web browser software project. Meaning, that the code or program language is open and freely accessible to anyone who wants it. Developers have access to its code and they have the ability to modify, expand and change the code.

Commonly the Firefox web browser is referred to as the alternative to Internet Explorer. Thousands of people download and install the Firefox web browser out pure curiosity and to try something new. A large amount of people download the Firefox web browser out of pure spite to Microsoft. Many people don’t like Microsoft and hate using Microsoft products, including the Microsoft Windows operating systems such as Windows XP and their latest operating system called, Windows Vista.

Firefox is actually a really good web browser alternative. And today in our standards, Firefox is one of the only web browsers that has a fighting chance in competing with Microsoft and their Internet Explorer web browser.

The hype about Firefox web browser is that it is coined as being the safer and more secure web browser, where I don’t believe that to be true. At times I have believed that Internet Explorer is the safer and more secure web browser, but all in all both are really equally as secure. In the past, and to give Microsoft a little credit, there is more of a demand for hackers to discover security glitches in the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser than there is for discovering holes in the Firefox browser… all in all, if the two were put through equal testing, I don’t think Firefox would be proven to be any more or less secure than Internet Explorer.

If you are looking for something different and just want to mix things up a little bit. Go ahead and be adventurous and download the Firefox web browser. It will be fun to see what surfing the Internet is like outside from the Internet Explorer world.

Later on when you get more comfortable with the Firefox web browser, you can start looking into extension or rather expansions of the web browser. There are hundreds of developers who create very handy and useful tools that expand the Firefox web browser, making it extremely useful and easy to use.
